Man’s quest for peace and eternal bliss has been linked invariably with penance and self-inflicted suffering. Buddha claimed to have attained “nirvana” this way. His disciples, clad in saffron robes, sought to find their peace, likewise, under the ancient trees at Taxila; young devouts assimilated his teachings eagerly; master-craftsmen immortalized their homage to this man of peace in exquisitely-carved statues and figures, which they preserved in bell shaped mounds, called “stupas”.
These relics remain preserved in their original form to this day. And they are fascinating, both to scholars of Buddhism and casual students of history. On this tour, you will visit:
Day 1: Islamabad
Welcome at Islamabad airport, transfer to hotel, afternoon proceed for city tour of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, which includes famous Faisal Mosque, Shakar Parian, Pakistan monument, Damen Koh, Lok Versa, Museum, Rawalpindi old bazaar, Raja Bazaar.
Day 2: Islamabad to Peshawar
Drive to Peshawar 172 km, En route visit of Taxila, visit to museum, Julian Mohrah Murado, Sirkap, Jandial Stupa and Dharmajika Stupa.
Day 3: Peshawar
After early breakfast visit to Museum, later drive to Swat.. Enroute visit the Charsada known as city of lotus flowers (Puskalawati).. Visit the site of famous Balahisar.. In Charsada.. Continue drive to Mardan and onward to Shahbaz Ghari to see the famous Ashoka inscriptions.. Continue drive to Swat via malakand pass.. In the way visit the famous sites at Barikot, Galagai and Udigram.
Day 4: Swat
After Breakfast visit the Swat Museum, Butkara I & II.. Also visit the Saidu Stupa site.. In the afternoon visit the site of Jehanabad Buddha site.. The situated near Mangalore in the route to Malam Jaba..
Day 5: Swat to Islamabad
Drive back to Islamabad, enroute visit Takhat – Bai, Jamal Gari near Mardan and the famous site Kund. Evening arrive to Islamabad.
Day 6: Islamabad
Morning visit Mankiyala Stupa near Rawat, afternoon visit Bari Imam, folk museum lok virsa.
Day 7: Fly Home
Transfer to Islamabad airport for return flight
