Karakorum high way is 8th wonder of the world (KKH). KKH is the highest paved international road in the world. It connects China and Pakistan across the Karakoram mountain range, through the Khunjerab Pass, at an elevation of 4,733 m/15,397 ft. It connects China’s Xinjiang region with Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions and also serves as a popular tourist attraction. Due to its high elevation and the difficult conditions in which it was constructed, it is also referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.
journey through the world’s second largest desert, the Taklamakan, which in the local Uygur language means “desert of no return”. These days it’s easier to come out, as we drive through the middle on a superbly built highway that takes us to the oasis of Kuqa at the center of the Western Regions, it held a strategic place on the Central Route of the Silk Road. It thus was there different cultures came into contact with each other and has always been a place of songs and dances.
Arrive at Islamabad airport transfer to hotel, afternoon visit Faisal Mosque, Shakar Parian, Pakistan monument, Damen Koh, Lok Versa, Museum, Rawalpindi old bazaar, Raja Bazaar.
Drive to Chilas on Karakoram highway 11-12 hrs 461 km.
Drive to Karimabad along with Hunza- Nagar River 6-7 hrs 240 km.
Morning visit Baltit Fort 700 Years old, Altit Fort 900 Years old, afternoon Duiker valley 30 minutes.
Drive to Sost 2hrs, enroute visit Attaabad Lake, Gulmit village, Hussani suspension bridge, Pass glacier and Batura glacier.
Drive to Tashkurgan over Khunjerab Pass 4733m. Arrive and transfer to hotel
Day-07: Karakul Lake/Kashgar:
Today you will have time to take a walk along the lake and take photos to the lake and the massive Muztagata Mountain, after drive along the Karakoram Highway to Kashgar.
Day-08: Kashgar: Our city tour includes the tombs of Abakh Hoja Tomb, well-known Kashgar Bazzar, the famous Id Kah Mosque and the most unique old town with typical Uyghur styled homes.
Today we will traveled from Kashgar to Hotan (Kothan) about 500 km over the Gobi Desert.by foot the trails of great explorer, Mark Polo along the South Route of Silk Road.
Day-10: Hotan / Niya（Minfeng)
Today, weˇll pedal out to the carpet factory to watch how beautiful works of art are crafted by hand from mere patterns and intricate combinations of fine wool yarn.then visit to the ruins of the important city of the ancient Yutian Kingdom-Malikwat; Hotian Museum, Jade Purchasing Station, then visit to Yuetkhan Ruin.
Day-11: Niya/Taklamakan Desert/Kuqa
This is the day for our remarkable journey through the world’s second largest desert, the Taklamakan, which in the local Uygur language means “desert of no return”.
Today we will visit the Beautiful Murals at the Kizir Thousand Buddha Caves,the largest Buddhist grottoes in western China–Kizir Thousand Buddha Caves–lie some 70 kilometers from Dunhuang.
In the morning we will visit Kuqa Grand Mosqueand have some free time to stroll through the streets of Kuqa’s old town. We will then set off for Korla making a few visits on route.
Day-14: Korla/Turpan: Depart Korla for an 6 hour journey to Turpan, located in a depression some 80 metres below sea level. During the journey you will pass through spectacular desert where small oasis towns are irrigated by an impressive series of underground channels carrying water from the distant Tianshan Mountains.
After breakfast we drive to Gaochang Ancient City, 47 km east of Turpan.
Day-16: Turpan- Urumqi
In the morning drive to Urumqi , the capital of Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region, a multi-national province with many languages, customs and colorful ethnic traditions.
Day-17: Urumqi- Islamabad: After breakfast , transferred to airport fly to Islamabad.
Day-18: Fly back: Transfer to Islamabad airport for return fly to home.
